Is there any restrictions?  Height, weight, age, health, pregnancy?

For those over 145cm (or approximately 12 years old) seeking some adventure, come and join one of our sunset or sunrise Mountain Bike Tours.

Taking part in bike riding is an activity that involves certain inherent risks.  The customer accepts sole responsibility for their health and safety at all times.  If medications (such as puffers, insulin, epi pens etc) are required, ensure you have them with you.

We do not recommend you ride when pregnant – if you choose to do so, it is at your own risk.

If you have any questions or concerns, please notify the Outback Cycling employee on the ground.

Children must be accompanied by a paying adult.

Can all the family join in?

Our bikes are suitable for approximately 12 years of age and older (a minimum height of 145cm)

Can I stop to explore and take photos?

We highly encourage it!

Do I have to wear a helmet?

The use of helmets is a legal requirement.  Customers must wear a helmet on their head at all times when riding a bicycle

What if the bike gets damaged/stolen?

Upon return of the bike, it will be inspected – charges will apply where damage is identified.

If you fail to return with the bike, or the bike is stolen whilst in your care, excess fees will apply ($500-$2000).  Alternatively, you may select to take out our excess saver option.  At a one off cost of $10, this will save you 50% on the applicable excess fee relating to your hire.

What if something goes wrong with the bike – eg flat tire?

When using bikes that are the property of Outback Cycling, we offer full mechanical support and/or replacement bicycles for the duration of the tour.

Where do I ride? Trail, paths or the roads?

Mountain Bike the Outback tour involves off-road cycling.

Velo Excursion Tour takes place only on sealed paths, and a small amount of road crossings.

Do I need to be fit or a cyclist?

You do not need to be an experienced cyclist or fitness fanatic to enjoy your Outback Cycling experience!

All of our tours are fully customised to the participants’ fitness and confidence levels.

What if I bring my own bike?

Using one of our top quality mountain bikes is the low stress option for our mountain bike tours – the bikes are set up to suit the Alice Springs trails, the pre trip maintenance (and post tour cleaning!) is done for you, plus we carry the parts and the know-how for on the spot trouble shooting.

However, we do welcome you bringing your own bike on tour, after all it is probably set up perfectly for you.  If you bring your own bike, you assume sole responsibility for the condition of the bike, its fitness for the environment, and any spare parts that may be required throughout the tour (spare tubes etc).  We highly recommend travel insurance if you are travelling with expensive sporting equipment.

How big are the groups?

There is generally a maximum of 6 people per tour group

Can I book a private tour?

Yes you can – please contact us for more information and a quote that suits your customisation requirements

What if the tour times don’t work in with my travel itinerary?

We run our tours at seasonal times to make them comfortable for you weather wise, and to enjoy the best of the sunsets and sunrises that Alice Springs has to offer.

However, if our posted times do not suit your plans, please contact us on +618 8952 1541 as we will do everything we can to accommodate your requirements.

Can I take GoPro footage?

Absolutely!  And please feel free to tag us (@outbackcyling) or hashtag us (#outbackcycling) if you upload onto social media.

We also take GoPro footage of our Mountain Bike the Outback Tours, and you can purchase the footage from your specific tour for $25

Do you do overnight tours?

We “nearly” do!  Please contact us on +618 8952 1541 for further information

What kind of bikes will I get to ride on tour?

We have a range of top quality mountain bikes available for our Mountain Bike the Outback Tours – including carbon fibre, hard tails and dual suspension.  You will be fit to a bike that is comfortable for you and suits your needs.

Our Townie Cruiser Bikes are a comfortable ride no matter which way you look at it.  With quick release seat height adjustability, we will have you cruising in comfort in no time!

Can I keep the bike for the rest of the day?
