FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS – ALICE BIKE HRIE
All guided tours depart from Outback Cycling Central, at 6/63 Todd Street Mall in the centre of town
We are walking distance from most accommodation options in Alice Springs. Alternatively taxi services operate in the area.
Bookings are essential for guided tours – this allows us to ensure the best equipment is available and matched to customers, and allows us to customise the tour experience. Give us a call on +618 8952 1541.
Our top quality mountain bikes are available for a minimum hire period of 24 hours. We have great discounted rates for week long hire and beyond.
Townie Cruiser bikes can be hired for half day (4 hours) or 24 hours and beyond.
At our discretion, Outback Cycling has the right to refuse participation of late arrivals, however in most instances, an uninformed late arrival will simply result in the equivalent time forfeited from the hire period. If telephone contact is made before the booking time, it is likely that an alternative time can be secured with no penalty.
Ensure you wear clothing appropriate to cycling – we recommend comfortable, unrestricting clothing, and closed in runners/walking shoes
We recommend you bring water, sunscreen, sunglasses, a day backpack and your camera
If we are advised by telephone of a change or cancellation with 48 hours notice or more, an alternative time will be provided, or a 50% refund will be provided.
If we are not advised (or a no show occurs), then any payment made is forfeited.
The customer accepts sole responsibility for their health and safety at all times. If medications (such as puffers, insulin, epi pens etc) are required, ensure you have them with you. We do not recommend you ride when pregnant – if you choose to do so, it is at your own risk.
If you have any questions or concerns, please notify the Outback Cycling employee on the ground.

You do not need to be an experienced cyclist or a fitness fanatic to enjoy our bike hire experiences. The beauty of bike hire is that you can explore Alice Springs at your own pace and in your own time.
If you are hiring a Mountain bike from us, we can supply you with a spares kit containing a spare tube, tire levers, multi-tool and pump (provided you know how to use it)
Alternatively, we do offer on track support (in the form of a bike repair or exchange), at a cost of $50. Our ability to provide this service is at our discretion, and delays may occur. Please ensure you store our office number in your phone for use of this service +61 8952 1541
Our Mountain Bikes can be ridden pretty much anywhere!
Our townie cruiser bikes are perfect for the excellent shared paths that will take you all the way around town, and to most of the popular tourist attractions.
Our E-bikes are perfect for the longer ride out to Simpsons Gap on the designated path.
It is legal for bikes to be ridden on the road in Australia, you just need to keep to the left as much as practicably possible and wear your helmet.
We are happy to provide a lock with every bike hired so that it can be locked to permanent structures around town – however, this is done so at your own risk. If locking the bike in a public access area, ensure it is in a well-lit position of high foot traffic. If the bike is stolen whilst in your care, excess fees will apply ($500-$2000). Alternatively, you may select to take out our excess saver option. At a one off cost of $10, this will save you 50% on the applicable excess fee relating to your hire.
