Casual position

Outback Cycling Alice Springs are seeking a cycling enthusiast to join our team as a casual tour guide.

Regular hours will be from 8:45am – 12:15pm every Sunday from June to August.

The successful applicant will have knowledge about local cycle paths in Alice Springs. Knowledge of the MTB Trail Network is desirable. Basic bicycle mechanics is required (changing a flat tyre, using a chain breaker).

Key responsibilities:

  • Lead up to 20 people per tour around town on mountain bikes
  • Ensure all procedures are followed (waiver forms, bicycle maintenance checks)
  • Deliver engaging commentary of Alice Springs in an amusing and engaging way. Commentary should include historical facts of the Alice Springs Telegraph Station, local event information, weather, geology, flora/fauna.
  • Demonstrate to participants how to use their gears, brakes, mount, dismount, ride through sand.
  • Identify visual and verbal cues from participants who may require assistance

Essential criteria:

  • Is confident cycling
  • Is 18 years of age or older
  • Is knowledgeable of the Alice Springs Mountain Bike Trail Network and local cycle paths around town
  • Recent Police Check
  • Current First Aid Certificate

Bicycle Retail Supervisor

Full time, permenant position

Outback Cycling is a bicycle store in Alice Springs and Uluru. We seek a competent, friendly and experienced individual to work in a dynamic environment and close-knit team. Your experience and knowledge of retail and workshop products in the bicycle industry is integral in this role. You will use this specialist knowledge to guide and supervise staff in the retail environment. You will also be responsible for the provision of training to team members in relevant areas of bicycle retail that ensures professionalism amongst our team, consistency of our products and their delivery, and an exceptional customer experience.

Key responsibilities:

  • Provide high quality goods and service in all interactions with customers, suppliers and other staff
  • Ensure a smooth and prompt customer experience
  • Team leadership and coordination
  • Staff training
  • Stock management
  • Optimise store displays and the retail experience

Essential criteria:

  • Drivers licence
  • Recent Police Check
  • Minimum of 2 years previous experience in a bicycle retail environment and bicycle mechanical workshop
  • Minimum of 1 year previous experience in a Supervisor role
