Where is it?

How do I get there?
If you do not have your own transport, you can book our Bus ‘n’ Bike packaging option for accommodation pick up and drop off in Yulara.

If you have your own vehicle, we are located approximately 20km (or a 20-30 minute drive) from the centre of Yulara.

Do I need to book?

Bookings are highly recommended, particularly if there is a time that best suits you and your trip itinerary.  You can book right now here

Do I need to pay a refundable deposit for the bike or equipment?

No you do not.  We hold your details in line with our cancellation/damage policy should there be any issues with the return of the equipment or bike.

Does my ticket price include National Park Entry?

No it doesn’t – that is payable upon entry to the Park

Is there parking available?

Yes, there is parking available in the Cultural Centre

How long is the tour/hire?

The hire period is for 3 hours – this allows plenty of time to ride the 15km around Uluru with plenty of time to stop and explore.

What if I am late?

At our discretion, Outback Cycling has the right to refuse participation of late arrivals, however in most instances, an uninformed late arrival will simply result in the equivalent time forfeited from the hire period.  If telephone contact is made before the booking time, it is likely that an alternative time can be secured with no penalty.

What do I need to wear?

Ensure you wear clothing appropriate to cycling – we recommend comfortable, unrestricting clothing, and closed in runners/walking shoes.

What do I need to bring?

Plenty of water, sunscreen, sunglasses a day backpack and your camera

What if it rains?

In the event of weather conditions that do not allow Outback Cycling to hire bikes for a certain period of time, a full refund will be provided (less credit card charges) if booked for within the period of closure

What if I get a flat tire?

We will provide complimentary assistance in our designated track area.

What if my travel plans/itinerary change?

If the customer advises cancellation of their booking by telephone with 48hrs or more notice, an alternative time or 50% refund will be provided.

If the customer advises cancellation of their booking within 48 hours, or does not show at all, then any payment made is forfeited

Is there any restrictions? Height, weight, age, health, pregnancy?

Cycling the rock is a great activity for the whole family!

The customer accepts sole responsibility for their health and safety at all times.  If medications (such as puffers, insulin, epi pens etc) are required, ensure you have them with you.  We do not recommend you ride when pregnant – if you choose to do so, it is at your own risk.

If you have any questions or concerns, please notify the Outback Cycling employee on the ground.

Children must be accompanied by a paying adult.

Can we book private groups/tours or corporate groups?

Yes, you can book for private groups of up to 30 bikes in a singular session – these need to be booked and paid for 7 days prior, and additional charges apply.

Can I have a guide?

A tour guide can be made available upon request – these need to be booked and paid for 7 days prior, and additional charges apply.

Can I hire a bike for longer than the hire period?

Each hire period is 3 hours, which is plenty of time to explore Uluru and its surrounds.  There are 3 hire periods available each day, and you may be able to book a second hire period (availability depending, and cost applicable)

Can I ride a bike to and from Yulara?

Unfortunately, no you cannot.  It isn’t safe to do so.  We do not hire bikes to ride anywhere in the National Park outside of the 15km path around the rock

How long does it take to ride around the Rock?

It depends on your fitness and available time!  It can be done very quickly, or nice and leisurely.  We recommend taking your time to ensure you get the full experience.

Do I need to be fit or a cyclist?

The 15km cycle around the rock is easily achieved in under three hours.  You do not need to be an experienced cyclist or fitness fanatic to enjoy the experience.  The ride is on a packed earth path and easily navigated.

Can all the family join in?

With our toddler seats, tag-a-longs and childrens bike, we can accommodate anyone from 6 months through to 80 years

Can I stop to explore and take photos?

Most certainly, and we highly encourage it… and feel free to tag (@outbackcycling) or hashtag media (#outbackcycling) us if you upload to social media.

Do I have to wear a helmet?

The use of helmets is a legal requirement.  Customers must wear a helmet on their head at all times when riding the bicycle

What if the bike gets damaged/stolen?

Customers assume liability for all articles supplied to them for the duration of the tour and/or rental period.

Unless prior arrangement has been made with Outback Cycling, equipment that is not returned by the end of the rental period will be deemed to be on hire at the existing rate and the customer will be charged accordingly.

The loss of a bike lock and/or its key will incur a $30 fee

Outback Cycling reserve the right to charge you an amount between $400-2000 (in accordance with the value of the bicycle or accessory) should equipment be returned in an unreasonably damaged condition, or not at all.
