Are there any restrictions? Height, weight, age, health, pregnancy?
For those over 145cm (or approximately 12 years old) seeking some adventure, come and join our Mountain Bike Tour.
For those over 14 years of age, you are welcome to join the Stealth E-Bike Tour.
Taking part in bike riding is an activity that involves certain inherent risks. The customer accepts sole responsibility for their health and safety at all times. If medications (such as puffers, insulin, Epi pens etc) are required, ensure you have them with you.
We do not recommend you ride when pregnant – if you choose to do so, it is at your own risk.
If you have any questions or concerns, please notify the Outback Cycling employee on the ground.
Children must be accompanied by a paying adult.
Can all the family join in?
Our bikes are suitable for approximately 12 years of age and older (a minimum height of 145cm)
Can I stop to explore and take photos?
We highly encourage it!
Do I have to wear a helmet?
The use of helmets is a legal requirement. Customers must wear a helmet on their head at all times when riding a bicycle
What if the bike gets damaged/stolen?
Upon return of the bike, it will be inspected – charges will apply where damage is identified.
If you fail to return with the bike, or the bike is stolen whilst in your care, excess fees will apply ($500-$2000). Alternatively, you may select to take out our excess saver option. At a one off cost of $10, this will save you 50% on the applicable excess fee relating to your hire.
What if something goes wrong with the bike – eg flat tyre?
When using bikes that are the property of Outback Cycling, we offer full mechanical support and/or replacement bicycles for the duration of the tour.
Where do I ride? Trail, paths or the roads?
Our tours include off-road riding on a mixture of single trail and 4 WD tracks. Some riding on sealed paths will also be required.
Do I need to be fit or a cyclist?
You do not need to be an experienced cyclist or fitness fanatic to enjoy your Outback Cycling experience!
All of our tours are fully customised to the participants’ fitness and confidence levels.
Can I bring my own bike?
Using one of our top quality mountain bikes is the low stress option for our mountain bike tours – the bikes are set up to suit the Alice Springs trails, the pre trip maintenance (and post tour cleaning!) is done for you, plus we carry the parts and the know-how for on the spot trouble shooting.
However, we do welcome you bringing your own bike on tour, after all it is probably set up perfectly for you. If you bring your own bike, you assume sole responsibility for the condition of the bike, its fitness for the environment, and any spare parts that may be required throughout the tour (spare tubes etc). We highly recommend travel insurance if you are travelling with expensive sporting equipment.
How big are the groups?
There is generally a maximum of 6 people per tour group. We can cater for larger groups with advance notice.
Can I book a private tour?
Yes you can – this is advised if you feel there is a fitness difference between participants in your group and a combination of E-Bikes and mountain bike will be needed to ensure everyone has a good time. Please contact us for more information and a quote that suits your customisation requirements
What if the tour times don’t work in with my travel itinerary?
We run our tours at seasonal times to make them comfortable for you weather wise, and to enjoy the best of the sunsets and sunrises that Alice Springs has to offer.
If our posted times do not suit your plans, please contact us on +618 8952 6120 as we will do everything we can to accommodate your requirements.
Can I take GoPro footage?
Absolutely! And please feel free to tag us (@outbackcyling) or hashtag us (#outbackcycling) if you upload onto social media.
Do you do combine mountain bike tours and Stealth E-bike tours?
No we don’t……UNLESS you are all part of the same group. Please see our answer above about Private Tours.
What kind of bikes will I get to ride on tour?
We have a range of top quality mountain bikes available for our tours. Our E-Bike tours use Australian made Stealth E-bikes. Our mountain bikes are hard tail bikes of reputable brands. You will be fit to a bike that is appropriate for your chosen tour and comfortable for you.
Can I keep the bike for the rest of the day?
We welcome you to continue your bike exploration of Alice Springs. There is a “top up” fee payable for this service. See our extra options section in the specific tour you are interested in.
