SIMPSONS GAP
The Simpson’s Gap Bicycle path is an iconic ride for visitors who have a full day to spend in The Alice. The path is smooth with undulating foothills and guides its way below the West MacDonnell Ranges.
If cycling from town, expect a 50km round trip (8km from CDB to start of path, 17km from start of path to Simpson’s Gap)
The start of the cycle path begins opposite Flynn’s Grave (Mount Gillen) on Larapinta Drive
You may lose mobile phone service while on the path. There is a hot spot once at Simpson’s Gap in case of emergencies. There is also a ranger station up the road, towards the highway.
There are no cafe facilities at Simpson’s Gap. You will find public toilets, a rainwater tank and a mobile hot spot.
All riders should carry: a spares kit (tube, pump, multi-tool, tyre levers), plenty of water, food and mobile phone with full battery.
If hiring from Outback Cycling, we advise a Premium Mountain Bike or Electric Bike for this journey.
